Lance Chapman, MD

Dr. Chapman is double board-certified in Mohs surgery and dermatology. He is also fellowship-trained in Mohs surgery and specializes in surgical, cosmetic, and general dermatology. Dr. Chapman was born in Northeast Indiana and graduated Valedictorian and Class President of his high school class. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he triple majored in Mathematics, Spanish, and Premedical studies and graduated Summa Cum Laude (top 5%) with multiple departmental honors. He was one of 2 students at Notre Dame to receive the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship for his community service, leadership, and academic performance.

After college, Dr. Chapman joined Teach For America where he taught 8th-grade science and sexual education in Watts, California.

He next attended medical school at UCLA where he was Class President and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. He received the UCLA Gerald Leavey leadership award at graduation for his extensive leadership and community service involvement. Dr. Chapman subsequently completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles and Residency in Dermatology at UC Irvine, where he served as Chief Resident and published over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. During his years of dermatology residency, Dr. Chapman was ranked in the top 1 percent of all dermatology residents nationally on the annual In-Service Training Exam.

In order to provide his patients with the highest possible care, Dr. Chapman completed a 1-year fellowship in Dermatologic and Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the renowned University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). In addition to Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Dr. Chapman also received extensive training at UCSF in the fields of cosmetic dermatology and laser surgery.

Dr. Chapman is the author of several journal articles and textbook chapters dealing with both general and surgical dermatology. He has given several public presentations at national meetings including the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and numerous regional meetings including the Pacific Dermatologic Association (PDA) and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery (ASLMS).

Dr. Chapman enjoys spending time with his family (including twin daughters) and enjoying beautiful Southern California. He is fluent in Spanish and loves to travel.
